You start walking, and everything is new. There's so much to discover, and so much to do. You're good at walking, so good at passing by. Things seem to connect, although there is a growing distance. You start moving, and yet you walk on the spot. Everything is as it was before, an endless routine. You start running, and you want to hide. You don't want to see anyone. They might know what you're trying. And without any security the only thing you know: It completely surrounds you. You always look to the center where the calm lies. And although, you never get closer to it, you always see it from another angle. You always feel it. And it stays with you. You keep moving. Your circle surrounds you.

Now 03:58
Light cuts through the fog, and the first silhouette appears. All voices and hands become one sound, a great anticipation that carries us away. We stand close together, and wait for the first bars with which everyone connects to something differently, but they're all connecting us now. Now – I'm listening to you. I'm keeping you inside. I'm seeing through your eyes. I enjoy you. I think we all agree. There is no yesterday and no tomorrow. There is only now. The kickdrum starts to synchronize the crowd. All your memories reappear. These songs have been with you for so long. You know them so well, as they seem to know you. It's like meeting a good friend who is always there for you. Who doesn't ask questions but listens to you, when you have something to say.

Friends 06:06
You know what it means to leave everything and to start completely new. Your friends told you that they would no longer recognize you because you would change. You would have blue eyes and blond hair like everyone in Germany. So play your song, and sing it out. I'm sure they're listening. It's been a long time since you've played on the streets. And life has moved on. (But you carry them inside you, and they do too.) Your positive energy has always impressed me, so many nights we've talked about life. You became someone that teaches a language to children that everyone understands. That brings people together and unites them, carries stories across borders.

Soon 04:16
Welcome to Vienna. You've always liked it here. But it is not so easy to finally arrive here. There are so many things that can prevent you from doing so. But it is all the more beautiful if you can take the time now. And the city has its own center for you which attracts you again and again. And so you visit it every time, and let it carry you away. Soon all of this will fly away, soon it will change somehow. So, let's just wait for another day, and with another day there'll be a chance to say: It will happen soon. When you look down, all is so far away. The wind carries you, and you are wonderfully light. Everything falls away from you. No doubts, no fears. This, this is you. Try to embrace the moment. And all too soon, you have the ground under your feet again. Treat yourself to another round, because this is what you need. It can happen now.

Carefully groping she finds note for note. No more mighty chords, everything is quite fragile. An old woman and an old piano, somehow it fits. And both have seen a lot, and one of them tells through the other. And both of them still love each other, their songs are never forgotten. And yet, in every single note lies a memory of a life for everyone else and a swan that never found peace. There was way too often little time to pause. Far too little time for the piano and her songs. And her husband still listens to her. Just as he did back then. He sits next to her, even though only she can still see him. He smiles at her just as he did back then. And she tells their story with very few notes.

Come into our houses, let's become devout. Please be very attentive, and listen to us: To obey in faith is to submit freely to the word that has been heard, because its truth is guaranteed by God, who is Truth itself. * This means we can give you clarity. This means we can give you security. We can distinguish between good and evil. We can give you all the answers and free you from sin. Faith is the assurance of things hoped for. It's the conviction of things not seen. * And what you hope for is what we can tell you. And please trust in us. Don't forget we can give you eternal life. And hey, after all it is the message of love, the message of forgiveness. Anyone can come to us who is in need, as long as the needs serve us. By the way, this thing called love is of course a matter of definition. And we can define it: It's man and woman. And nothing more. This is simply not intended. And if you want to proclaim our message, please do it without a woman on your side. We mean of course officially. You can hide someone from time to time. It has proven itself in some ways to simply remain silent. And to withdraw into some hiding place, and just let years pass by. All of this has been working so well for centuries. * excerpts from the Catechism of the Catholic Church

Anne waits for her friends with whom she always meets here. Just to hang out together and see what happens. The main thing is to get away from home, away from all the madness. Markus is waiting for his train, an important business meeting in a few hours. Later, his empty flat is waiting for him. He hopes that will change soon. Tina sits in her usual place where she has been sitting for years now. There is no draft, and you can watch everything. And with a sip you won't freeze too much either. Everyone lives their lives, and they all meet here. They exchange brief glances and yet never speak to each other. Being alone within the crowd.
